The Kenton Conservancy has received a $20,000 grant from The Greater Cincinnati Foundation (GCF) to fund a Greenway Restoration Project along the Licking River from the confluence with the Ohio River 5.2 miles south to the I-275 loop.

Funding from GCF will provide opportunities for volunteers to participate in conservation efforts to help reduce bank erosion, preserve forests, and restore the riparian corridor through the planting of new vegetation. The project grant from GCF will focus on the habitat restoration along the riverbank.

The concept of the Licking River Greenway and Trail system is one of the initiatives to improve the economy and quality of life in Northern Kentucky that was generated by community leaders under the guidance of Vision 2015.

The proposed trail system provides nature trails, paved trails, and water trails. The restoration of the natural assets of the Licking River corridor and the development of recreational facilities there could have long lasting impact on our economy and health.
